My 81 year old father has had Parkinson's for about 17 years. His symptoms were slow to develop , and until about 2 years ago he was able to live alone with no help. His symptoms are now professing rapidly. He takes Sinemet 4 x a day. He is losing volume in his voice, has decreased appetite due to thecgreat difficulty he has in eating. Recently he has begun to sleep almost nonstop and can sleep through all types op noise. He is awake for only a few hours a day. What stage would you say he is in, and whybis the disease progressing so quickly? Thank you.

He just completed 15 radiation treatments on his spine to alleviate pain. he is also receiving hormone therapy, casodex for 30 days and lupron shot/every 3 months. Has only had one shot. I am concerned about the effect of radiation and hormone therapy side effects.

My husband (82) has had PD for ten years. He has developed extreme bladder spasms that send him continually to the bathroom day and night. Medications have not helped. Could this be caused by Parkinson? If so, is there a treatment that might be helpful?

I have recently become aware of neuroplastic research and am hoping i can find a research study to participate in that uses neuroplastic principles. I am particularly interested in exercise programs. I have developed my own exercise regime in collaboration with a personal trainer at a gym and a physical therapist. I am new to this website. i was diagnosed with PD in December of 2008.
